Growing up, I always wanted to work with dogs; bringing home all kinds of strays, and eventually saving up enough money  as a teenager, to buy my own dog; a Lab cross.  Not knowing what breed I truly had interest in, I would never have guessed I would be breeding and showing Alaskan Malamutes!  I had been leaning towards the Rottweiller; deciding that this would be the breed for me after much study and research.  One day, a co-worker told me that they had an Alaskan Malamute puppy that they could not keep.  I knew that if I went to look at this puppy, I would take him home with me, which is exactly what I did!  Our love of the Alaskan Malamute started in December of 1989 with this 4 month old puppy named Nanuk, and we have been hooked on the breed ever since.

After purchasing our acreage, we began our research for a foundation female.  In 1993, we welcomed  Champion Maladream Red Dakota, who was our beginning in purebred dogs.  After attending handling classes with Dakota, in the Spring of  1994 we entered our first dog show, but had to pull her because she blew her coat.  After conditioning Dakota back into full coat, we entered the Alberta Kennel Club summer show, not realizing this was the largest outdoor show in Canada.  Nervous as anything, I entered the show ring with a red Alaskan Malamute, not realizing this was not a very popular color for the show ring.  She won second place out of a class of five, and won Reserve Winners Female on that day!  I have enjoyed showing my dogs ever since!

In 1995, I bred Dakota to Ch Malhaven Shadow Of The Dark, which produced a litter of four.  I retained two from the litter, and titled them both; Ch Glaciermist Chasing Shadows (Chase), and Ch Glaciermist Lonesome Dove (Keira).  In 1997 Dakota was bred to Ch Malhaven Lion, which produced a litter of eight, of which six of them were titled.  I retained two girls from that litter; Ch Glaciermist Cheyenne Gray Sikku (Cheyenne), and Ch Glaciermist Mystic Grey (Neuteal).  It is from these dogs that I have begun the third and fourth generations of Glaciermist Kennels, and have titled many of them, placing four of them in the top ten, three years in a row.

I am a member in good standing of the Canadian Kennel Club.  Kelly and I both work full time; our dogs are our pleasure and our hobby, not our livelihood.

We are both very proud of our Malamutes and all of their accomplishments, and we are thankful to those who have helped us along the way.  We continue our journey and we look forward to each and every new generation of Glaciermist Alaskan Malamutes, and many more Champions!

Mission Statement

We take great pride in our breeding program, and in what we produce.

It is very important to us, that we place each and every dog that we produce in a loving, caring and responsible home.

We feel very strongly that our responsibility does not end with the sale of a dog.  We are there for our buyers throughout the life of the dog for guidance, advice, and encouragement.

It is our mission to produce healthy and sound Alaskan Malamutes that are true to their mystic heritage.

Thank you for your interest in Glaciermist Alaskan Malamutes!
